Here we’ve listed some frequently asked questions we get about our scrap metal recycling services.

What kind of scrap do you take?

We take all ferrous and non-ferrous scrap.

What is ferrous scrap?

Ferrous scrap is anything that contains iron.  This includes:

  • washing machines
  • tumble dryers
  • combi-boilers
  • radiators
  • household appliances
  • girder
  • plate
  • gates, doors, railings etc.

What is non-ferrous scrap?

Non-ferrous scrap does not contain iron.  This includes

  • Copper – tube, pipe, wire
  • Brass – taps, fittings, ornaments
  • Aluminium – used aluminium, HE9, new production cuttings, car wheels, cast
  • Cables – household cable, data cable, singles, armoured
  • Lead – flashing, pipe
  • Stainless steel – sinks, utensils, commercial fittings, valves
  • Zinc – sheeting, diecast
  • Motors – standard electrical motors, starters and alternators, washing machine motors

Do I have to be a scrap trader to sell to you?

No, we buy scrap from everyone – both new and existing customers.

How do I check what kind of scrap I have?

Give our office a call on 01942 88 33 22 and we will be happy to help. If we can’t identify your scrap over the phone, we have systems on site that will analyse your metal for you.

Do you recycle white goods?

Yes, we recycle washing machines & dishwashers.

Can you collect my scrap?

Unfortunately, we can’t collect. All items must be delivered.

How do I arrange to deliver my scrap?

Which parts of the UK do you cover?

We are based in Atherton, Manchester and buy scrap metal from all over the UK.

Locally, we cover Wigan, Chorley, Tyldesley, Bolton, Leigh, Worsley and Salford.

What do you pay for scrap?

We are known for our competitive and fair pricing, which is based on the London Metal Exchange. As this rate changes daily, please call the office on 01942 88 33 22 for a quote.

How will I be paid?

We offer flexible, prompt payments and a variety of payment options – including Bank Transfers, Cheque or Prepaid Card. Please contact us for more information.

How do I set up an account and how long does it take?

To register with us just bring a photo driving licence or a passport with proof of address. Accounts are set up instantly so you can weigh-in your scrap on the same day.  You can also complete the required details form in advance of your visit via the registration page.

How long does it take to receive payment?

All transactions before 4pm are paid on the same day; any after 4pm are paid the following day.

Do I need to weigh my scrap before I deliver it to you?

No, we will do this on site when you deliver. All material is weighed on our platform scales and processed through our weighing software system. Each weigh is grossed and tared to avoid weighing errors. A weigh ticket is issued – fully compliant with waste regulations – with all weighing and grading information, giving our suppliers a transparent view of the process.

Will my vehicle be safe on site?

We offer a well-maintained and clean unloading area which ensures vehicle safety when visiting our site. Our large, dedicated trade scrap yard enables visitors to unload and segregate their material, while remaining separate from all other vehicles.

Can I watch my scrap being weighed?

Yes, we provide a safe waiting area for suppliers to watch material being weighed, before receiving a weigh ticket and payment.
