Types Of Scrap Copper Cable We Recycle

Household Cables

Non-armoured cable found domestically, e.g. twin & earth cables, power tool cables, kettle leads, computer cables, etc. Cables must be free from plugs/attachments.

Low-Grade/Armoured Cables

Triple-layered copper cable with an extra layer of steel. Cables should be free from any attachments.

Singles/High-Grade Cables

‘Singles’ or ‘colours’ are fairly easy to identify as they usually have only one layer of PVC sleeve and are around 5-8mm thick.

The Benefits Of Recycling Cables

Instead of putting your old scrap cables in the bin, why not weigh them in with us for a competitive price?

Not only can you earn some spare cash and make some money back on your scrap cable, but you can also do your bit for the environment. Scrap cables are most often made using copper as it is the best conductor of electricity. Mining raw copper can cause water pollution, affecting natural habitats and wildlife, as well as release harmful CO2 emissions into the environment.

Recycling copper uses just 10% of this energy, leading to the conservation of valuable reserves, including oil, gas and coal. Copper can also be recycled again and again, without losing any of its original properties, boasting a higher recycling rate than any other metal (even more than aluminium!)

Non-Ferrous Scrap Metal Recycling

As a leading UK-based recycler, highly experienced in exporting non-ferrous metals globally, as well as buying, selling and trading both ferrous and non-ferrous metals locally – we know our scrap metal merchants are just the right team of experts to help you recycle your scrap cable. We buy all grades of non-ferrous metal, which includes any metal that doesn’t contain a significant amount of iron within its chemical composition. Examples of non-ferrous metals we buy include (but are not limited to):

Scrap Metal Prices

Offering the best-value scrap cable prices, there is no better team to sell scrap metal to than Kas scrap metal buyers. Here at Kas Metal Trading, we are proud to base all of our scrap metal prices, including our scrap cable prices, on the London Metal Exchange (LME).

The LME is the world centre for industrial metal hedging, trading and pricing. By following the global standard, we ensure our scrap metal prices can always respond to changes in the scrap metal market. This allows us to respond to daily changes in the scrap metal market at the time of trading, ensuring you get the best price paid for your scrap alloy wheels.

Leaving 100% of the choice in your hands, the LME has created a strong and more controlled trading market – where there is always a buyer and a seller, there is always a standardised price, and there is always the choice to transfer or take on risk, 24/7.

How Does Scrap Cable Recycling Work?

As a result of our long-standing experience in globally exporting non-ferrous metals, as well as recycling both ferrous and non-ferrous metals at our local scrap metal yard – our scrap metal merchants make scrap cable recycling a breeze. If you need to get rid of your old, spare or faulty cables, but want to get something back in the process – visit our scrap metal yard today!

The process of recycling your scrap cables starts with weighing them in and grading the metal to assess how much it is worth – this number is always based on the London Metal Exchange. Clean, unalloyed and pure metals are worth more than contaminated or mixed scrap metal. There is a designated area for your vehicle on-site, where you can safely unload your scrap metal away from all other vehicles, as well as a safe waiting area where you can watch your scrap metal being weighed.

Once your scrap cable has been through our cutting-edge metal analysis system, we will be able to give you an accurate weigh-in ticket that is fully compliant with waste regulations. Then, our friendly and efficient scrap metal merchants will explain our wide range of payment options to you, so you can choose the one that suits you best. One of our most popular options is the Pre-Paid Card method, where the card is uploaded with funds at the point of weigh-in, and the customer can use the card to withdraw money, or even use it as a debit card!
