How to Identify Scrap Aluminium
The easiest way to test whether a metal is scrap aluminium or not, is by checking if it’s magnetic. This is because all non-ferrous metals are non-magnetic.
If you don’t have a magnet to hand, its weight should be a pretty big giveaway. Aluminium is significantly lighter than steel, iron and lead. It also has a duller, grey appearance in comparison to the shiny nature of stainless steel for example. Another tell-tale sign is if there is no rust on the metal, as aluminium is highly resistant to corrosion.
