5 EVERYDAY ITEMS THAT YOU MAY NOT KNOW COULD BE WEIGHED-IN FOR SCRAP
There are a few items that will instantly spring to mind when you think about items that can be weighed-in for scrap, such as copper cabling, copper piping and lead flashing. But, there are so many everyday items that most people have in their homes that can be weighed-in to earn you some extra pounds that you may not realise. With summer around the corner, who doesn’t want a few more spends to enjoy on their holidays?
Take a read to make sure that you don’t miss out on being paid for your unwanted metal items. By bringing these items to us, you’re also helping the environment by having them recycled instead of items filling up landfills.
We’ve rounded up 5 common items that can be weighed-in for scrap, let’s take a look.
1. White goods
Large white goods and many home appliances contain ferrous or non-ferrous metals that can be recycled. Here at Kas Metal, we accept tumble dryers, washing machines and washer-dryers. Recycling your unwanted white goods with us means that large appliances are not sent to landfills and you’ll get paid for the value of the scrap. It’s a winner, winner all round.
2. Motors
As well as standard electrical motors (motors used to power anything electrical), you can also bring us starters and alternators. We also take washing machine motors.
Depending on the motor, will depend on the metal inside (and also the value) and this could range from copper to aluminium. If you have a motor not listed here, it’s definitely worth giving us a ring on 01942 883322 to see if you can weigh-it-in with us.
3. Everyday kitchen items
Kitchens are filled with many metals items that are stainless steel, aluminium or copper – and all these metals can be weighed-in for scrap (even if they are worn or damaged). If you have a cupboard or drawers filled with unwanted pots, pans, cutlery or utensils made from metal, then collect them all together and have them weighed-in. You may be pleasantly surprised at the amount you get for items you no longer need or have the space for.
4. Garden items
Many gardens contain plenty of quite heavy metal (without the music!). Items that can be weighed-in with us include: iron gates, iron railings, aluminium garden furniture, iron garden furniture and steel tools. 5. The kitchen sink (yes, you read that right!)
Sinks that are made from copper or stainless steel can be weighed-in with us. But it doesn’t end there in the sink-related items that can be weighed-in. Brass taps, copper piping and copper tubing are also items that we accept.
